US Trade with Kazakhstan

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, US trade with Kazakhstan was $343.0 million, down 48.50% ($323.0 million) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

US exports to Kazakhstan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $142.8 million, down 65.89% ($275.8 million) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

US imports from Kazakhstan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $200.2 million, down 19.06% ($47.1 million) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

US trade balance with Kazakhstan went from a surplus of $171.3 million in the 2nd quarter of 2016, to a deficit of $57.4 million in the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Kazakhstan was the US 86th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 71st in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0348% of US total trade (down from 0.0720% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Kazakhstan was the US 92nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 64th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0371% of US total exports (down from 0.1151% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Kazakhstan was the US 80th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 75th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0333% of US total imports (down from 0.0440% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The major share of US exports to Kazakhstan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - a decrease of $1.2 million;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $0.7 million;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $0.5 million;
