US Trade with Malaysia

In the 1st quarter of 2017, US trade with Malaysia totaled $12.2 billion, up 6.97% ($0.8 billion) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

US exports to Malaysia in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $3.3 billion, up 10.72% ($0.3 billion) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

US imports from Malaysia in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $8.9 billion, up 5.66% ($0.5 billion) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

US trade deficit with Malaysia in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $5.7 billion, a 2.94% increase ($0.2 billion) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Malaysia was the US 18th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.3009% of US total trade (down from 1.3039% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Malaysia was the US 22nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 24th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8775% of US total exports (up from 0.8496% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Malaysia was the US 14th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.5797% of US total imports (down from 1.6031% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The major share of US exports to Malaysia in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
