US Trade with Afghanistan

In the first nine months of 2017, US trade with Afghanistan totaled $798.6 million, up 19.26% ($129.0 million) from the first nine months of 2016.

US exports to Afghanistan in the first nine months of 2017 totaled $788.0 million, up 22.55% ($145.0 million) from the first nine months of 2016.

US imports from Afghanistan in the first nine months of 2017 were $10.6 million, down 60.09% ($16.0 million) from the first nine months of 2016.

US trade surplus with Afghanistan in the first nine months of 2017 was $777.3 million, a 26.13% increase ($161.0 million) over the first nine months of 2016.

Afghanistan was the US 91st largest trading partner in the first nine months of 2017 (up from 98th in the first nine months of 2016), accounting for 0.0274% of US total trade (up from 0.0256% in the first nine months of 2016).
