US Trade with Malaysia

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, US trade with Malaysia totaled $12.7 billion, up 2.48% ($0.3 billion) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

US exports to Malaysia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $3.2 billion, up 10.91% ($0.3 billion) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

US imports from Malaysia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $9.5 billion, down 0.09% ($0.0 billion) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

US trade deficit with Malaysia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $6.3 billion, a 4.90% decrease ($0.3 billion) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Malaysia was the US 17th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.2869% of US total trade (down from 1.5113% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Malaysia was the US 22nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 25th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8418% of US total exports (up from 0.8352% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $14.6 million;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $11.7 million.
