US Trade with Saudi Arabia

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, US trade with Saudi Arabia was $7.8 billion, down 20.99% ($2.1 billion) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

US exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $4.2 billion, down 12.00% ($0.6 billion) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

US imports from Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $3.5 billion, down 29.65% ($1.5 billion) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

US trade balance with Saudi Arabia went from a deficit of $0.2 billion in the 3rd quarter of 2016, to a surplus of $0.7 billion in the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Saudi Arabia was the US 24th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 22nd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7874% of US total trade (down from 1.1994% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Saudi Arabia was the US 19th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.1139% of US total exports (down from 1.3929% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.46% of US total exports to Saudi Arabia (8.30% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.53% of US total exports to Saudi Arabia (7.08% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.19% of US total exports to Saudi Arabia (2.72% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
